【香菊日誌(一)】
“Something nowadays people lacks” is a film spread on the Internet recently, which expresses the idea that anyone can make the world better by giving others a hand even for a thing which is not actually worth mentioned.
The film starts with a little boy looking at a group of teenagers scrawling on the wall, which always exasperated the owner. Then it comes to a school bullying happened in a crowed place but no one care about it. Unlike the others, the little boy went to pull the poor one up after the big guy went away and took two cans of white paint to the scrawled wall. Then the film continues with a series of scenes that people helped others in an easy way such as kept the door open for the visually impaired, stopped a ball from going to the street, picked up a trash, moved a cup to the center of the table in case it fall down, which made the onlooker become the next helper. After that, it came back to the little boy who tried to repaint the terrible wall by himself. However, a little girl who just accepted one can of paint from him while she is out of hers came to join him. Then, more and more people came, including the teenagers who scrawled the wall. That’s how the influence goes.
The beginning fully conveys the coldhearted society nowadays that people can easily ignore others bad situation, which is a controversial issue today. Some people said that people are lack of concern, love, and mutualism. I think it is caused by some reasons. While more and more people use others sympathy to commit crimes or make profit at others expense, such as faking up some accident in order to ask for compensate, less people would do others a service or think in others’ position in case they become the next victim, me included, I dare not always bear a hand to anyone I am not familiar with. It is a vicious circle that leads to a coldhearted society.
However, I was touched by the film and really believe that there are still more good souls than bad ones in the world. Maybe we could start with some little actions like what showed in the film to try to make the world warmer and nicer. Yet, we still need to take stock of those hearts bent on evils.
